Web Developer

Reports to: Marketing Manager

Salary: $68,000 - $96,000

Job Summary

The Web Developer works as part of the Marketing Communications team and is responsible for the architecture, development, implementation and support of Internet, Extranet and Intranet sites for CCSE. The individual in this role will utilize Best Practices and promote innovative growth and development of the websites in compliance with corporate standards.

Essential Functions and responsibilities

- Architect, design, develop and maintain Internet, Extranet & Intranet sites for CCSE

- Utilize Best Practices and the most current database and programming technologies

- Leverage Marketing Team members and collaborate on graphics, video, audio & content

- Provide technical consultation and support to staff and customers as needed

- Manage projects related to the websites

- Adhere to corporate brand standards

- Ensure timeliness, accuracy and consistency of all sites

- Determine and recommend additional resources necessary for web operations

= Propose tools and make recommendations as needed for website budget

- Document all changes to the website per marketing procedure

- Design, build and monitor web metrics

- Research and plan for changing user requirements and technology advances

- Keep current with industry web sites and development practices

- Develop interactive marketing tools to support business

- Provide assistance in other marketing reporting needs

- Performs related duties as assigned


Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- Experience in website development, programming, indexing, scripting and site maintenance

- Experience building web applications and database-driven websites

- Experience with database structures, custom metrics reporting and web analytics

- Experience with cross browser and cross platform development

- Proficiency in web development tools and languages including HTML, PHP, ASP, CSS

- Proficiency with database technologies utilized in web applications including SQL, MySQL

- Proficiency with Adobe CSx and Microsoft Office 200x technologies

- Proficient with Windows operating system and Internet Browser applications

- Knowledge and experience using content management systems

- Knowledge of emerging web technologies including XML, JS and AJAX

- Knowledge of Linux/Unix/Windows system administration

- Knowledge of secure web services: privacy, firewalls, encryption, and SSL

- Knowledge of Internet connectivity issues, FTP, download times and end-user experience

- Skilled with web-ready graphics, animations, PDFs and multimedia files

- Strong timeline creation and project management skills

- Excellent communication skills

- Self-starter and ability to work with both a team and independently

- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail

- Customer-focused and results driven


Preferred Qualifications

- Marketing experience and knowledge of E-commerce techniques and issues

- Experience with digital video editing / digital photography & related hardware

- Prior experience working with public agencies

Education and/or Experience

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework related to the area of assignment and 3-5 years proven experience designing and developing enterprise class, database driven, interactive websites (backend); or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above.

Communicate effectively in both oral and written form; compose and edit written materials; explain technical concepts in non-technical terms to staff and customers; research and learn new software and adapt to changes in technology; prioritize, organize, and schedule work assignments and projects; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted during the course of work.

License, Certificates or Registrations

Valid California Drivers License; insurable in the State of California. Must own a licensed and registered vehicle and be willing to use it for work-related purposes.
