TITLE: INDUSTRIAL TECHNICAL MANAGER

REPORTS TO: SENIOR INDUSTRIAL SECTOR MANAGER

BACKGROUND

Energy Trust of Oregon, Inc. is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to energy efficiency and renewable energy development. We serve Oregon customers of Portland General Electric, Pacific Power, NW Natural and Cascade Natural Gas.

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY

This position will manage the technical aspects of Energy Trust’s industrial energy efficiency program offered throughout Oregon State.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage all aspects of the industrial program’s custom track implementation.
• Oversee all program delivery efforts and technical analysis by assigning tasks and managing the work of program delivery contractors and program allies.
• Manage program financial and service incentive budget.
• Manage and oversee contract conformance of program delivery contractors.
• Assign all energy studies and negotiate work orders with technical analysis contractors (ATACs)
• Monitor project progress and keep data tracking systems updated
• Develop and implement quality control procedures for the program
• Operate program tracking system as required to process incentive payments and to generate program tracking reports.
• Maintain close working relationships with program delivery contractors (PDCs), ATACs, vendors, and other program stakeholders
• Work directly with industrial participants as needed to address issues and facilitate successful implementation of projects
• Incorporate market, contractor and internal feedback into continuous program improvement strategies
• Conduct presentations as requested at seminars, trade association meetings, and other outreach events
• Perform all functions of the job in a safe and conscientious manner.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
• Position reports to Senior Industrial Sector Manager
• Position will work in a team-based environment and will lead initiatives as well as accept task assignments by other team leaders and Energy Programs director.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
• Technical knowledge/ skill:
o Theoretical and practical knowledge of methods, practices and principles of mechanical and electrical systems and equipment.
o Applied knowledge of commercial/ industrial building systems and industrial processes.
o Demonstrated ability to organize data and understand written technical instructions, procedures and documents.
• Management knowledge/ skills:
o Excellent written and oral communication skills
o Strong business acumen.
o Exceptional analytical, writing and communications skills.
o Experience in all phases of hiring and managing contractors, from internal approval of funding, writing scopes of work, soliciting bids, negotiating and finalizing contracts, to managing contract execution.
o Understanding of workings of stakeholder groups and associations.
o Ability to use PC desktop applications (e.g. Microsoft Word and Excel), reporting softwares and databases.
o Strong interpersonal and contractor personnel management skills.
• Education and Experience:
o Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
o Minimum of five (5) years of directly relevant energy efficiency experience.
