
Environmental Engineering
Supports engineering/projects department in the performance of complex and demanding assignmentsrequiring initiative and independent judgment. Directs the work of assigned personnel, meeting cost and time schedules. Must have considerable mathematical, computer, and code or design experience. Plans and conducts independent work requiring judgment in the application of engineering techniques. Normally uses conventional approaches to technical problems encountered. Provides technical direction and assigns work to subordinate technical support specialists, engineers, designers, and drafters who assist on specific assignments. Provide assistance to projects and the Chief Engineer s office in the following areas: Provide environmental design criteria and conduct project environmentalreviews.With assistance from staff, conduct or coordinate environmental analysis, calculations and perform necessary studies in support of pre -construction (siting, permitting), design, construction, startup, operation and decommissioning of power generating plants. Maintain and/or develop environmental execution tools. Assist in the preparation of Permits, Environmental Report, and Safety Analysis documents in support of power plant licensing.Prepare responses to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) requestsfor additional information.Maintain knowledge base and update management and project personnel one merging environmental regulatory requirements, environmental technology, and policy affecting power generating plants. Provide technical guidance for developing and executing projects. Research, update, and follow up on Environment Standard Equipment Specifications, Design Guides, Procedures, Engineering Instructions, and Protocols. Coordinate environmental subcontractors. Maintain and or assist in developing planning and scheduling of tasks and resources for on time deliverables. Basic Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in environmental engineering or environmental science/policy field. IT Certification. At least 8 years of environmental experience with an overall broad understanding of the issues related to air, water, solid, and hazardous waste, remediation, decommission, and regulatory compliance for the design, development, construction and operation of power generatingplants.Excellent written and verbal English communication skills. Knowledgeable of NRC regulations and guidance documents relating tonuclear power plant licensing. Familiarity with the technical aspects pertaining to environmental engineering resources for power plants. Willing to travel to domestic or international jobsites. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Currently possess the right to legally work and remain in the United States without visa sponsorship. Capable of passing nuclear security screening requirements and able to obtain unescorted clearance to a nuclear power plant. Ability to react to simultaneous but rapidly changing objectives. Knowledge of basic mechanical engineering and nuclear engineering fundamentals for power plants.
Qualifications
PhD in environmental engineering or environmental science/policy field.
